Pioneer Park

The Pioneer Park in Las Vegas, which is a park owned and maintained by the County of Clark, is tentatively considered as the venue for the first day of our reunion in Las Vegas on Tuesday, May 29, 2007. The park is located at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Buffalo Drive. This is where we will initially meet at about 10:00 o'clock in the morning to register and also get to identify each other in person. It will also be on this day that we will announce the different activities that will be scheduled for the duration of our 3-day reunion. It is therefore very important for all those who will be attending the reunion to be at the park so everyone will know what to expect during our reunion.
The 16 photographs (taken just last week by my daughter Jennifer) shown below shows the different facilities that are available at the park. Provided in the park are picnic sheds with tables and chairs, playgrounds, toilets, a large parking area, barbeque grills, and various other park facilities and amenities. The park is open to the public and no reservations need to be made to use the park facilities. I was informed that it will be a "first-come-first-serve" basis for those who intend to use the park. Our picnic is scheduled on a Tuesday and there should be no problem on getting ourselves a shed to use since most residents who live nearby use the park on weekends.
For our picnic at Pioneer Park it is tentatively planned to have Jun Gutierrez, owner of Toto's Lechon Manok in Las Vegas, provide a pack lunch for us during this gathering. I have informed Jun about this plan and also requested him to submit to me his menu and the approximate cost of the meal. It is also suggested that those who will be joining the picnic should bring whatever additional food, dessert, and drinks they could contribute so we will have something in addition to what Jun will provide us. Please be informed that the consumption of liquor is not allowed at the park ... and each of us will be paying the pack lunch that will be provided. Thus, it will be important to have a headcount at least two weeks in advance in order to know who will be coming and how many of us will be joining this planned picnic. Feel free to bring along your kids or grandkids to the picnic at the park. There are playground equipment available at the park and the children will surely enjoy it there.
Shown below is a vicinity map showing the location of Pioneer Park which is somewhere at the intersection of Washington Avenue and Buffalo Drive. With reference to "The Strip" or Las Vegas Boulevard, the park lies west of it. And please take note of my cellphone number (808-330-4240) so you can communicate with me when you will be in Las Vegas ... just in case you need directions or have any questions regarding the reunion in May. And directly below the map are portrayed the 16 different photographs which were taken at the park.

[ Click on any of the "thumbnail images" below to view the photograph in a larger size format ] Just so you may know, I have looked into 5 other parks in Las Vegas and I think Pioneer Park would be most suitable and convenient for our purpose. However, should there be anyone who would be able to suggest a better and more convenient venue for the first day of our reunion, kindly let me know before we finalize our plans ... and please provide a good description and location. It will also be better if photographs could be provided. If there will be no other suggestion, I guess it will be finally decided to hold our first activity at Pioneer Park.
